Dear Artists and Families, It has been an absolute joy to see photos, be in Google Meets and trade comments with your artists as they create from home. It reminds me why I love teaching art so much: for the students! I know this is not our typical art show where each student has the chance to pick their favorite piece from the year and have it displayed, but we can still celebrate creativity. All the artwork here has been created and photographed by students at home. They have done some incredible things like building boats and nature drawings, using emojis to share how they are feeling and more. I hope seeing what these artists are capable of lifts your spirits as much as it does mine. I look forward to when we can create together again.
With love, Mrs. Kelley
Landscape Challenge
K-2 and 3-5 artists each had a different challenge where they used line to show space (or depth) in a landscape. They did an amazing job!
Foil Monoprint Challenge
Student learned how to create monoprints (that means it prints once) with foil, markers and water. They loved the tie dye effect!
Emoji Challenge
In this challenge students used line, shape, color (complementary colors) and changes in value to draw two different emojis that show how they have felt during our remote learning. Artists often use their art as a way to express their emotions.
Earth Day Art Challenge
Students were given a few choices of Earth Day art activities. Here's what they did!
Draw a Chick or a Bunny Challenge
Students got into the spirit of Spring when they were challenged to draw a chick or a bunny!
Curator Challenge
Students became curators as they decided on a collection and how to exhibit it!
Nature Art Challenge
For this challenge students were able to look at some artists who use nature as their materials. Then students went outside and started creating!
Build a Boat Challenge
Here are the boats that students created, some even got to test them out at home or outside!
Not a Box Challenge
Students were challenged to use creative thinking skills and turn a box into something else.
Found Object Color Wheel Challenge
Students were challenged to find objects around their homes and arrange them in a color wheel.
